Proverbs 20.12 - The hearing ear and the seeing eye — ADONAI made them both.
Reading the Bible sharpens the senses. My daughter Vivian told me, "I want to hear God's voice." She'd been learning about how God spoke to several people in the Bible so it seemed obvious God could speak to her too. She's right. When we study the Bible, we're hearing God speak and learning what the voice of our Heavenly Father sounds like. We train our ears to hear God when we read His Word.
For better and worse, we live in a very visual culture. We believe it when we see it. When we study the Bible, we see God working with real people, places and events. Reading the Bible trains our eyes to see God at work in the world today.
