Who Was and Is Jesus? A Visual Aid

Updated: May 24

I'm still really fired up about the doctrine of the Triunity or Trinity. Specifically, if God is really Three in One, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, this makes verses like Luke 24:13-27 especially interesting to me. Here's a summary of what happened: The risen Yeshua/Jesus has a conversation with two people on the way to Emmaus. The text indicates the two men knew Yeshua prior to His death, but they were kept from recognizing Him during this risen encounter. As they are discussing Yeshua's teachings, miracles, death, burial and resurrection, Yeshua Himself, "....beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself (ESV)."

It seems obvious Yeshua would have discussed prophecies concerning Himself including:

  • Genesis 3:15

  • Psalm 22

  • Isaiah 7:14; 35:5,6

  • Isaiah 53

  • Hosea 11:1

  • Micah 5:2

  • Zechariah 9:9; 12:10

Still, I can imagine Yeshua talking with them about much, much more.

Maybe Yeshua talked with them about how Yeshua was a descendant of Abraham and the fulfillment (fullness) of the Abrahamic Covenant . He may have talked about the Torah given to Moses on Mount Sinai, and how Yeshua kept it perfectly. Perhaps, Yeshua talked with them about Esther and how the Jewish lineage of Messiah was miraculously preserved from attempted genocide.

Yeshua is God who was, is and is to come. He is the Son of God and Son of Man, fully divine and fully human. The incarnation is absolutely mind blowing! I hope the chart below widens your aperture a bit regarding who Yeshua is. Keep in mind all of the boxes are connected to each other. I hope this helps you see Yeshua in the entire Bible because Yeshua is the God of the entire Bible!
